Stop Snoring, Lose Weight and End Obesity

Snoring is a symptom of many health problems and there is no doubt that one of the main causes of snoring is being over weight.

Accordingly the easiest and safest cure for snoring is to lose weight, and besides that losing weight helps to prevent a whole bunch of other illness and health conditions, including heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and arthritis.

When one considers the numerous health risks associated with obesity, the problem of snoring rather pales into insignificance. However, one of the beneficial side effects of losing weight is a decrease in the snoring problem.

Being over weight, and I don't mean just "a few pounds", fat deposits begin to sprout up in various areas of the body.

In addition to fatty deposits in the throat areas, obese people tend to get lose muscle tone, even in areas such as the throat. This can be a big factor when it comes to clear breathing.

While sleeping, especially laying on your back, the excess fatty deposits in the throat weigh down on the throat and airways and begins obstructing the free flow of air.

While many people believe that snoring is simply a problem, even an irritation, for the spouse or family members of the snorer, however this is not the case. Snoring is your body’s way of crying out for the air that it needs to perform basic functions. The actual snoring sound is your body trying to force air through the obstructions that are stopping you from breathing properly. It can cause sore throats and headaches, and a feeling of dry mouth in the morning.

Snoring is another health condition, in addition to heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis and others health conditions, that are worsened by obesity. As well as impacting your health, snoring can also jeopardize the health and sleep of your loved ones and has the potential to destroy your relationships.

It should also be noted that the serious side of snoring, sleep apnea, is linked to incidences of obesity and is a condition whereby breathing actually stops during sleep. When the survival reflex eventually kicks in to restart the breathing a long, deep VERY noisy breath is taken. By doing whatever it takes to achieve a healthy height/weight ratio the risk of developing sleep apnea is reduced.

Fortunately, there is a fairly easy way to stop the snoring problems associated with being over weight – proper diet, exercise and .....lose weight!

Losing weight does not have to be about hardship and sacrifice. If you are prepared to exercise and increase your activity levels it may mean that you do not need to restrict your calorie intake – that will really depend on your diet.

Exercise, and increased activity, will speed up your metabolism. This not only helps with weight loss but it also assists with many physiological functions, including the release of stress.

Aerobic exercise is best for giving the body a metabolic boost it is possible to incorporate aerobic exercise into your day in many different ways, walking, housework, gardening, etc. Take the stairs rather than the lift; take a walk at lunchtime rather than surfing the internet, walk the dog or if you don’t have a dog of your own, walk your neighbor’s dog.

Your partner will appreciate the new thinner you and he or she will sleep much better now that you aren't snoring.

There are so many health benefits to losing that excess weight – you have nothing to lose, except your snore!
